$873 million Facebook award could add fuel to CAN-SPAM lawsuits By Jacqueline Emigh, BetaNews
The courts have officially awarded a lot of money to both Facebook and Myspace from companies that used the networks to SPAM people. This is generally speaking is a good thing. Hopefully it will scare the crap out of SPAMMERS in general.
The challenge is that SPAM has been bad for the direct marketing world in general making it harder and harder to get messages through filters. The reality is that traditional marketing is going soft because of it's cost and it's return on investment roi.
Direct Marketing is on the rise and will continue to be on the rise including Social Media and Email Marketing. The challenge for most traditional mind sets is to step away from the "lead with the sale" mentality and start with the relationship. WHAT HUH!
You have to have to create the ability to do less with more by improving the relationships that you have with your database by working on value added content, mixed with sales content and mixed with just sharing the challenges of the day.
