New Additions to First Friday Comedy Night in Hollywood, CA 11.6.09 at 8:30p.m.

Hollywood,CA- Joannae Thompson, Gulden join Annie Wiebe to become the Sirens of the "First Friday Comedy Night" in Hollywood,CA on 11.6.09. They join the stars of NBC's "Chuck",  Mark Christopher Lawrence and Scott Krinsky for a night of comedic mayhem. Jason Lawhead and host David Kamatoy fill in the comedic gaps. The show will start at 8:30 p.m. this show is produced in Mark Christopher Lawrence's "Clean Comedy" model in which all ages are welcome to attend. Cafe Muse is a cafe and coffeehouse, mostly vegan fare with an art gallery that is located in the heart of Hollywood's Theater Row.

Jonnae Thompson a high-energy female comic after placing as runner-up in the  "Jimmy Kimmel Comedy College Competition" she reluctantly returned to comedy only to realize that she actually likes it and has decided to stay a while.

Successful Social Media: Ten Twitter Tips Part I

Here are Ten Twitter Tips, social media and it's best and worst. Hopefully this will inspire a few ideas on how to build and monetize your database using twitter. This post will be discussed on the David Kamatoy Radio Show.

Ten Twitter Tips, Successful and Unsuccessful Examples with David Kamatoy and Morgan Westerman. Morgan Westerman created one of the most successful viral videos of the internet and has recently focused his energy on social media. TEN TWITTER TIPS Part I

1. 

Dell Computers $2 million and counting: Dell was the first company to come out with a press release that actually stated that they made a profit via twitter. http://twitter.com/DellOutlet started tweeting for the U.S. Dell Outlet in June 2007 based on a suggestion from someone attending the   SXSW Interactive.

They rewarded dell followers by promoting refurbished gear specifically and have noted sales to prove it.

THE LESSON: They created a specific type of reward and message that was different from their other marketing. In tandem with the reality that most twitter followers will be a bit tech savvy purchasing online this was a good match.

The result would have been different if they didn't do the discounted and refurbished sales.

2. Steve Agee, The Sarah Silverman Project: Steve Agee comedian started off his twitter following by pulling off a stunt on Ustream.tv about reading all first 5,000 names live on air when he hit 5,000. He is currently at  863,420.

Really good example of someone in the public spotlight using that publicity to gather a following in a new genre. Dane Cook did it on myspace and now Steve Agee is doing it on twitter.

ENTERTAINER TIP: Remember that when your on a hit show or in the limelight. Use it to build your database. Anyone in this side of the business knows that you never know when your going to get your show canceled. In radio they often sell the station out from under you with very little rumbling. If they told you the advertisers would go away.

The Lesson: REWARD your followers at some point with a free gift, special discount or content.

4. Straight to Sales: Straight to SPAM! http://twitter.com/Wealth_Formula No Humanity This is perfect example of what does not work and will most likely be deleted as spam. Straight to a landing page with only one message. REALLY!!!

5. Good Porn Bad Porn: http://twitter.com/A_Dempsey While this may go straight to a porn link the good thing is the quotes and a varying message. Sneaky Porn Spam generally bad. 

6. Don't Get Bitchy: It's a Public Forum... Personal Conversation Gone Wrong: http://valleywag.gawker.com/5152016/canuck-rag-regrets-tech-reporters-twitter-tirade Wow! read this exchange just awful. Thanks Joe Long.

The Lessons: 1. Use a landing page as seen below. 2. Quotes can be quite useful if used correctly. Choosing quotes that are related to your subject matter and then either blogging about them or just reference them back to you is a good idea in creating an ideal emotion. 3. It's public people remember that journalists are now quoting "tweets".

7. Customize your twitter page. I use Google's picassa to create a collage using pictures and logos. You have to play with the output settings to get it right but it's a great free application.

TIP: Covert to a real email and contact information as quickly as possible for real contacts.

The future of social media event coverage...

The way we covered the Christian Hoff event is to me the future of the best use of some of internet technology that's available to us now.

Interviews and Excerpts that are important to a small group but done in an interesting way. Then posted to the internet using the current technology at hand.

At the same time I am able to connect with that niche group but through the power of networking you never know who is in that small group. I have seen it again and again that the raising of capital, the closing of a business deal, the distribution of a project starts with an introduction.

What we did was a notch up because of the kind of accounts that I have at youtube and viddler. I can post upgraded long form videos.  I could have covered the same event by just snapping some photos, writing about it and maybe even use a flip phone but instead I used a baby canon HD camera and posted it in HD on youtube.

The video category is in the search engines is still a huge opportunity. We saw a few years ago that the video category would not just be about entertainment but about knowledge as well. FAQ's, How to's, podcasts, resume's are all being creating in a visual format as well as text.

The search engines are constantly looking for impressions and listings in separate categories of the web. At Kamatoy Media we mine blogs, video, news, mini-blogging which helps the main web search category.

The bad thing is that I have a mountain of video to go. While at the same time creating new and relevant material on the live streaming show

The hardest thing about the journey for me is to accept that every time we create something that I can see a better way to do it even with the limited resources that are available from event to event.

Anyway just some random thoughts on this whole SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE.

San Diego,CA declares "Christian Hoff Day" Sept. 12th Christian Hoff Benefit Concert for San Diego Junior Theatre 2009

San Diego,CA- Christian Hoff, Tony Award Winner for the show, "Jersey Boys" performs a Benefit Concert at  San Diego Junior Theatre. Alumni, current students, faculty, parents and staff packed the house as Christian Hoff performed 2 sets.

The first set were various standards with just his pianist. In his  second set he was joined by his band and did a few notable covers. Christian is about to open Parade at the Mark Taper Forum in LA in the interim he is working on a solo recording project.

The show was co-hosted by television journalist Kimberly King who now can be seen on the CBS affiliate in San Diego News 8. Along with Darien Webster. Darien is an entrepreneur, sits on the board of SDJT andwas instrumental in putting this benefit concert together.

CHRISTIAN HOFF DAY

September 12th

Christian humbly accepted the award and in his acceptance speech said, "This should be called San Diego Theatre Day." Bringing light to the fact that San Diego is a theatre town.

I was able to catch up with other Alumni on camera including Dwight Webster, Mara Cooper, Julie Clemmons, Joy Yandell and Skypp Cabanas.

My own SDJT story is that before I juggled I danced, sang, acted and took video classes. So much of the core background that I have is based here at San Diego Junior Theatre. So as I thank my parents for getting me involved. I am amazed at the amount of talent that still surrounds me at this place.

If you have a kid that's interested in performing in San Diego, CA get them involved with this program. If your in town visiting come see a show.  When that curtain goes up the show your seeing is completely run by kids at that point, crew and cast.
