I enjoyed this film I think because after watching the previews I knew what I was getting into. Once I was there it was clear.
Imagine falling into one of your favorite television shows as a kid but now your an adult.
This answers the question that seemed to be on the mind of every reviewer.
WHO IS LAND OF THE LOST FOR?
Answer: Those of us who grew up on Kroft Family Shows.
Rated pg-13 I think the answer is still not so clear. If you grew up on t Kroft Family Shows you start to realize that these brothers produced so much of the kid and family entertainment of the 70's and 80's hr pufnstuff, Kroft Puppets, Family Affair, Donnie and Marie Show, Dean Martin Show to name a few.
Deciding to take a break from my late night insanity to see if I can drop into an early showing of Land of the Lost. Early meaning 12:01a.m. The theatre was filled with a spattering of people that genuinely seemed entertained by the movie.
Anna Friel: Very enjoyable to watch even though I have read about her work in "Pushing Daisies" not being familiar with her actually help ground the comedy and help sell the reality of the surreal plot.
Will Ferrell: Odd and brilliant as always Will is definitely the go to guy on these odd exceptional everyman type roles. The thing that he does well in this piece is play adverse relationships in a comical way. He creates a comic tension that makes us expect a gag, a laugh and that's what makes it work.
Danny McBride: Was lucky enough to be brought in on Tropic Thunder which was truly one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. He apparently riffed a lot in this film and while many of the riffs did not make it in. The attitude did.
Director Brad Siberling: Nice work reigning in this rag tag group of actors. There were several comic bits one specifically that I was amazed that you guys made that work...
Let's just say that I didn't expect to be walking out of Land of the Lost singing, "A Chorus Line" again a great era reference to the same group of us that watched Land of the Lost. lol.
Avy Kaufman: Just wanted to give you a nod. I like the way you cast things notably Lions for Lambs which went a bit unnoticed sadly it was a powerful piece. While Land of the Lost is not Lions for Lambs casting was still the same brilliant.
Effects were a nice upgrade while still keeping some of that old camp in the deal. Congrats to the effects and prod design crew. It's fun to see the tech work in the context of a comedy. You forget that it exists which is your job, but I sat through the credits past the Dino egg gag and wow, it was a long list.
Some Favorite Comic Moments for me...
Bug Gag: Yeah we saw it in the preview but there is some subtly to this black comedy moment. Notably the blood draining from Wills body. Nice!
Chorus Line: It becomes almost an uncomfortable running gag. Especially with the musical theatre gay reference until the pay off.
Matt Lauer: Payoff Gag.
Hey enjoy the movie. See it with other people that will get the references that's probably your best bet. Not the one to take the younger girl your dating because of your mid-life crisis. =P

I love how in depth the franchise is getting now with the Television Series, films and now the pre-quels. It allows us to see farther into the Science-Fiction Genre rather than just a lot of cool special effects. Science-Fiction ultimately reminds of where we are by showing us what the future could hold.
With the time travel theme of the Terminator Series it's a little more up front. lol. However now that were getting a lexicon of information the future lesson seems more tangible.
I have recently been watching the Numbers past seasons myself. I look forward to more current movies being streamed. Right now new releases take a while to get to STREAM mode. The next shift will be to see more and more current releases going to stream right away.
I don't see an issue with this as it's traceable...
Roswell and Jason Behr fans rejoice as Hyung-rae Shim's Dragon Wars is available on Netflix via streaming. Shawn Rover was in from Japan recently and he and were working at the office as I pulled up a movie via Netflix he was intrigued.
I am streaming and watching Dragon Wars as I blog and write and I love the quality from the house. Seriously it's awesome. I am bummed that my streaming is not a better quality at the office. Regardless I am geeking out while watching Dragon Wars and I highly recommend Netflix.
The future of entertainment is here it's just a question of time as our watching habits switch more to ON DEMAND.
Netflix and LG will be release HDTV sets that will sidestep the box needed as the streaming software will be directly included in the Televsion sets. I watch Netflix a lot online and I am extremely happy with it. This transition from having a box connected to the internet allowing me to stream video into my TV to actually having the software in the TV makes a ton of sense. Granted there are still a lot of factors to weigh it's easy to see this as part of the future of Home entertainment.
I watch a lot of netflix and hulu.com while I am blogging, writing and doing short form tasks. So I really dig netflix, hulu, etc. I do find that Television is easier to listen to and watch cursorarily versus film which is shot in a way that it's usually important to see all the scenes.
However, in multitasking I find that I can now rewatch something that Ive half watched and really enjoy it. Something I am not accostomed to if I watch it directly, I have a tendancy not to watch things twice. A habit that I am trying to change again as I get back into editing and shooting etc.
I have a great idea Emma Watson is now about to be presented in two Children's films an animated role in Tale of Despereaux and the next Harry Potter film. I know let's put out a press release in which she admits that in the right situation she would consider a nude role. HUH?
Could not the publicity group come up with another angle with actual legs. Maybe if she was actually doing a photo shoot or a posing for a painting. She's not even doing anything nude.
What about going in a totally different direction and dropping her into some non-profit cause. So the PR question is simply is this prepping us for another announcement or is it just a brilliant but odd press release to help sales.
This press release just hit me as an oddity. I have nothing against Emma Watson I actually like her.
Maybe I'll put out a press release myself that says.
David Kamatoy ponders Nude Role because he was inspired by Emma Watson pondering a Nude Role that doesn't currently exist.
I love ya Emma =)... Email me and let's come up with a non-profit or a music video to do. (Nudity optional)

San Diego, CA- If I have a chance I will review this in greater detail but here goes my quick reviews..
1. Wanted- A dark movie with graphic comic violence. If you can get around the violence and the suspension of disbelief then you can enjoy this film. I enjoyed it but the ending still had a bittersweet ending to it leaving me not quite fulfilled. While I enjoyed this film I don't recommend it for those not familiar with this Genre of film or a DATE FILM. This is not a date film...lol
2. Kung Fu Panda- Wow! this is was cool and hearing a few Asian character actors was cool especially King Fu Pandas Dad played by James Hong and I totally adore Lucy Liu =). OK this was a lot of fun. My buddy thought it was a little slow too start. Oddly enough we just saw Hitchcock recently and thought there was this one flying monkey move by Jackie Chans character that we though Hitchcock should have done... This could be a date film, family film etc.
3. Hitchcock- I wrote before that this got strange reviews for a good film. I liked this film and yes it is a date film oddly enough. Definitely more of an adult relationship oriented deal.
4. Hellboy II- DIG IT BABY!!! Loved the first one, loved the modern mythology used here. Some people thought the effects were a bit over the top. But hey it's Hellboy II not Clerks II. Oddly enough the girl that stole my eye was Anna Walton. an incredibly beautiful oxford trained actress. Sort of a date film, a cool date film for the teenager in you.
OK, so thereit is.. Quick Reviews and more to come...
Please feel free to comment..

I dropped into Hollywood Video today and asked if I should grab CLEANER or 10,000 BC. The lovely Heather suggested that I watch CLEANER since it's been off the shelf since it hit the shelf and I can see why.
This was a nice piece for Samuel L. Jackson in a more subtle role he is graciously supported by a powerful cast of Ed Harris, Eva Mendes, Luis Guzman, Maggie Lawson a very cool appearance by Robert Forester and a nice showcase for Keke Palmer.
What makes this film incredibly engaging is that it is all about relationships and extended family. The extended family of police officers joined together by tragedy and scandal. Put it all together and it creates an interesting texture of morality issues and people continually covering for each other.
Directed by Renny Harlin who is no stranger to big budget productions like Die Hard 2 and The Long Kiss Goodnight. He also directed one of my sleeper favorites MindHunters which of course now makes more sense.
Perhaps the real emerging talent is Matthew Aldrich who apparently has 2 projects in development.
I have looked over several reviews of Hancock and wow they are terrible. So either the film is bad or it is just not cookie cutter enough to get a good review from the lowest common denominator.
Seriously films like Harold and Maude, Citizen Kane, Its a Wonderful Life.
Ok Hancock is not It's a Wonderful Life. But seriously, I will go see this film and give my opinion on a big budget film that apparently took a hug chance at stepping away from the cookie cutter.
San Diego,CA- These were taken at the Spring Buskers Festival 2008 at Seaport Village.
