Coronado, CA- DavidKamatoy.com first podcast via chroma-Key green-screen. This is a
test of a green screen format that intends to be a regular event. So
it's a little rough around the edges. Same babble as on the news
section of the LiveStream Show... Enjoy!
Hey so check this out... Looks cool and now we will improve the format.
We are days away from Thanksgiving which also means that we are heading into a time when the prospect of "New Business" goes into hibernation. If you are part of the holiday season then you will be exceptionally busy. For the rest of us there is a point when you will start to get the...
"Sounds Great! Let's talk at the beginning of the year."
A lot of you may hang up the phone and then scream...
So instead of being blindsided by this phenomena get clear that this is going to happen and it's up to you to responsible for your activity during this downtime.
For extroverts and those driven by sales and interactivity this may be a very difficult time especially if you emotionally attach yourself to sales/money.
AN EXTROVERT STRATEGY: Use the holiday time to emotionally connect with would be and current clients.
Use this time to get to know your database a bit. Ask important questions...
How did you do this year?
What kind of opportunities are you looking for in the new year, 2010?
What kind of skill sets do you have that I don't know about?
What kind of opportunity can I be on the look out for you in 2010?
Is there a proposal that I can prepare for you for the top of the year that can help you hit your goals?
You can do this as a series of phone calls and/or emails preferably using a jugglemail.
Using a jugglemail strategy: Create a well written email and track that email using the "Hot Prospects" Generator. Then pick up the phone and connect with the Hot Prospects and the Read email recipients.
AN INTROVERT STRATEGY: Be meticulous about finishing up projects.

During this dead-time there are most likely some great talented people sitting idle right now for you to hire or ask for help to get some of the long-overdue projects completed.
We are currently organizing our end of the year strategies based on these principles.
We have a pile of content that has not been a priority but all extremely viable from conventions and events. We just shot 2 days of GREEEN SCREEN for ourselves and our clients that we have started post production on. While these may be completed during the end of the year we are really setting the table for the beginning of the year.
That being said please watch the blog as we build some great content over the next 6 weeks. If you want our assistance in creating some new media. email marketing, STUFF before the end of the year just contact us.
We will continue to update the blog with end of the year STRATEGIES....
The press Secretary Robert Gibbs woke the President early this morning not with bad news but with the good news that he had just won the Nobel Peace Prize.
Obama is "humbled" by the honor, the White House said in a brief statement.
A first thought would have been something gone wrong with the Moon project or Afghanistan but instead the award has been given to only the third sitting US president.
This is unique for a few reasons mainly because he has just come to office and we are still technically at war.
That being stated it seems that the Nobel Peace Prize people are calling President Obama out. I hope that the administration see's this as a "Call to Action".
This country works because we have opposition. We continue to find the middle path.
The
challenge is to celebrate the Nobel Peace Prize and then to figure out
how we can "own it". How can the administration embrace and surpass the reasons the
award was given?
Outreach to the Muslim world
A push for Israeli-Arab peace
Intent in a Nuclear Free World
"Extraordinary efforts to
strengthen international diplomacy and cooperation between peoples" - From the Citation.
It will also be interesting to see how the Extreme right wing pundits handle this one. They have already come under fire recently for representing a smaller and smaller demographic. What they continue to not understand is that the extreme antics and opinions are getting lumped into the "OK you've gone too far." grouping.
Recently to hear Rush and Beck actually play the race card is coming to light (Especially the Larry Wilmore take on Jon Stewart...Nice.) Hello! 1. The guy is half white. 2. Who are they trying to endear themselves to by playing this card? It was the problem with the campaign, by playing to the base demographic you look a little insane to the middle and really insane to the far left.
So in the wake of the Obama racist comments and Rush stating that it's creating an environment where it's OK to beat up on white kids. President Obama actually wins the Nobel Peace Prize. OK so this is another huge chance for these right wing guys to look even more insane by playing to the demographic. Again...
Who are they trying to endear themselves to by playing the Obama is racist card?
It's not me. A guy who is ethnic, who grew up in a black neighborhood and went to white private schools. A guy who continues to have a multi-ethnic friends and associates. A guy who voted for Obama but also voted for an Austrian Republican Governor and a Republican Mayor.
Seriously, I am a radio guy. Again I think Rush is extremely talented and when he makes some great policy observations. However he really lost me when he lost it on the air by getting insanely mad at a caller on air, I think that was one of his drug fueled rants at the time. The reason was I was taught never to do that in a public forum and he did it on one the largest public forums.
That's why I appreciate Hugh Hewitt. He's much more logical about his opinions and he is not as fueled by keeping such large advertising dollars.
Congratulations to President Obama on winning the Nobel Peace Prize!
Appreciate the opposition and let's get back to work people.

Here are Ten Twitter Tips, social media and it's best and worst. Hopefully this will inspire a few ideas on how to build and monetize your database using twitter. This post will be discussed on the David Kamatoy Radio Show.
Ten Twitter Tips, Successful and Unsuccessful
Examples with David Kamatoy and Morgan Westerman. Morgan Westerman
created one of the most successful viral videos of the internet and has
recently focused his energy on social media. In just a few short months
he has gathered about 25,000 followers on twitter. He is currently
working with entrepreneurs on best practices in sales conversion. He
can be followed @morganwesterman.
They rewarded dell followers by promoting refurbished gear specifically and have noted sales to prove it.
THE LESSON: They created a specific type of reward and message that was different from their other marketing. In tandem with the reality that most twitter followers will be a bit tech savvy purchasing online this was a good match.
The result would have been different if they didn't do the discounted and refurbished sales.
2. Steve Agee, The Sarah Silverman Project: Steve Agee comedian started off his twitter following by pulling off a stunt on Ustream.tv about reading all first 5,000 names live on air when he hit 5,000. He is currently at 863,420.
Really good example of someone in the public spotlight using that publicity to gather a following in a new genre. Dane Cook did it on myspace and now Steve Agee is doing it on twitter.
ENTERTAINER TIP: Remember that when your on a hit show or in the limelight. Use it to build your database. Anyone in this side of the business knows that you never know when your going to get your show canceled. In radio they often sell the station out from under you with very little rumbling. If they told you the advertisers would go away.
OWN YOUR OWN DATABASE AND GET THEM TO AM EMAIL LIST
4. Straight to Sales: Straight to SPAM! http://twitter.com/Wealth_Formula No Humanity This is perfect example of what does not work and will most likely be deleted as spam. Straight to a landing page with only one message. REALLY!!!
5. Good Porn Bad Porn: http://twitter.com/A_Dempsey While this may go straight to a porn link the good thing is the quotes and a varying message. Sneaky Porn Spam generally bad.
The Lessons: 1. Use a landing page as seen below. 2. Quotes can be quite useful if used correctly. Choosing quotes that are related to your subject matter and then either blogging about them or just reference them back to you is a good idea in creating an ideal emotion. 3. It's public people remember that journalists are now quoting "tweets".
THREE TWITTER TIPS
7. Customize your twitter page. I use Google's picassa to create a collage using pictures and logos. You have to play with the output settings to get it right but it's a great free application.
If you truly want to convert to sales or interactivity then you have to earn the respect of your followers through credibility. Therefore push content...
Blog postings- Like this one.
Press Releases-
Email Marketing: Jugglemail emails create unique URL's that can be easily posted onto twitter. We do it all the time with our press release emails.
Videos
Facebook
Other peoples content: rt someone elses tweet usually garners attention and is often reciprocated.
10. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery: Pay attention to who you and others pay attention to and then customize that style to your own.
BONUS Final Advice: Remember that ultimately you don't own your twitter, facebook or myspace profiles. They can be deleted at anytime for complaints, overuse, spam. To top it all off the parameters are constantly changing.
TIP: Covert to a real email and contact information as quickly as possible for real contacts.
We do this using the auto responders on our jugglemail system or just dropping them into the system upon approval.

The way we covered the Christian Hoff event is to me the future of the best use of some of internet technology that's available to us now.
Interviews and Excerpts that are important to a small group but done in an interesting way. Then posted to the internet using the current technology at hand.
At the same time I am able to connect with that niche group but through the power of networking you never know who is in that small group. I have seen it again and again that the raising of capital, the closing of a business deal, the distribution of a project starts with an introduction.
What we did was a notch up because of the kind of accounts that I have at youtube and viddler. I can post upgraded long form videos. I could have covered the same event by just snapping some photos, writing about it and maybe even use a flip phone but instead I used a baby canon HD camera and posted it in HD on youtube.
The video category is in the search engines is still a huge opportunity. We saw a few years ago that the video category would not just be about entertainment but about knowledge as well. FAQ's, How to's, podcasts, resume's are all being creating in a visual format as well as text.
The search engines are constantly looking for impressions and listings in separate categories of the web. At Kamatoy Media we mine blogs, video, news, mini-blogging which helps the main web search category.
The bad thing is that I have a mountain of video to go. While at the same time creating new and relevant material on the live streaming show
The hardest thing about the journey for me is to accept that every time we create something that I can see a better way to do it even with the limited resources that are available from event to event.
Anyway just some random thoughts on this whole SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE.

Patrick will be missed. His talent and training has always been an inspiration to me. From the dancing background to playing manly men in Roadhouse to writing a top charting song, "She's Like the Wind."
To continually push himself to do things both independently like Once Last Dance and the craziness of "Too Wong Foo With Love" and finally a Dark "The Beast".
On a lighter note...
I had the chance to work with John Fujioka who worked with Patrick Swayze in Steel Dawn he shared with me a great story...
There was a scene in which John Fujioka character passes away and is in a body bag. Patrick's character has to lament his death. The shot was at night, it was cold. John was in a body bag of sorts and to make it comfortable for him they put a sleeping bag in the body bag. Needless to say playing dead in a sleeping bag, John kept falling asleep and snoring. So Patrick would have to lovingly kick or nudge John in the body bag basically saying...
"Wake up your supposed to be dead."
I wish that it was that simple for Patrick now. But I think somewhere in a mysterious ghost like heaven place maybe God is kicking Patrick right now and saying the same thing.
To Lisa...
There is an empty space in the world now but it can't compare to the void that you and the family is dealing with personally. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. You lost a partner and that's something that not all of us can truly understand.
Just watch this video and send some light and love the Swayze family way....
It's a hard thing to imagine until it happens. That moment of insanity when after working your ass off for days and weeks to make something happen something negative drags you down.
I was a witness and a participant to this several times in the last week. A lot of people see negativity as a sign to run away from something. Which I always founabld weird because I learned a long time ago that sometimes the greatest accomplishments are difficult to come by.
If everyone could do the improbable it would be probable. It would be mediocre.
I am not saying that universe does not also give you signs to RUN AWAY. But I am stating that in those moments of negativity there is opportunity.
Here a few things that I did in the last few days to reorganize my thoughts.
1. SLOW DOWN- As much as I want to accomplish everything right now. I realize that there are only 24 hours in a day and when you are working 12-16 hour days there is really not much more you can accomplish.
If you are feeling overwhelm it's because your mind is not focusing on what's next but focused on an unrealistic future or worse the past. The past is long gone and unchangeable.
2. SLEEP ON IT- As a student of Hypnotherapy I learned that the mind naturally problem solves while sleeping. So sleep deprivation while dealing with major problems is going to magnify a situation.
Often a small cat nap or Self- Hypnosis will also help reset the brain and allow you to focus on what's next.
Even at this very moment as I write this I am worried about things that I can't control. But I am pushing those elements down in size in the theatre of my mind and focusing on several tasks that I can control directly in front of me.
2. Forced retirement or firing. What else are you going to do?
3. Because you have a great idea and you have to do it.
Napoleon Hill waxed upon this concept that most entrepreneurs find their stride in their 40's+
"Seldom
does in individual enter upon highly creative effort in any field of
endeavor before the age of forty. The average man reaches the period of
his greatest capacity to create between forty and sixty. These
statements are based upon analysis of thousands of men and women who
have been carefully observed. They should be encouraging to those who
fail to arrive before the age of forty, and to those who become
frightened at the approach of "old age", around the forty-year mark.
The years between forty and fifty, are as a rule, the most fruitful.
Man should approach this age, not with fear and trembling, but with
hope and eager anticipation."
-Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill
I like to say that after 40 years you've been to the circus and seen the show. You know what habits are bad for you and you know what's good for you.(Regardless if you do the right thing or not.) You begin to see the fruits of your labor or the fruits of labor of those very close to you.
It's also the reason why entertainers are so difficult to work with for the simple reason that young musicians or entrepreneurs need to pretend to be older while they are young. I surrounded myself with mature mentors, clients and team members and in doing so I know accomplished more than I should have.
So no matter what age you decide to start a business I suggest that age not matter. However I do believe that you should surround yourself with people from multiple-generations especially those that you intend to be your customers or clients.
San Diego,CA- These were taken at the Spring Buskers Festival 2008 at Seaport Village.
Charles Frey took these at one the better shows of the weekend. Charles has a great eye for capturing those moments. Thank you for these my friend...
