Coronado, CA- DavidKamatoy.com first podcast via chroma-Key green-screen. This is a
test of a green screen format that intends to be a regular event. So
it's a little rough around the edges. Same babble as on the news
section of the LiveStream Show... Enjoy!
Hey so check this out... Looks cool and now we will improve the format.
We are days away from Thanksgiving which also means that we are heading into a time when the prospect of "New Business" goes into hibernation. If you are part of the holiday season then you will be exceptionally busy. For the rest of us there is a point when you will start to get the...
"Sounds Great! Let's talk at the beginning of the year."
A lot of you may hang up the phone and then scream...
So instead of being blindsided by this phenomena get clear that this is going to happen and it's up to you to responsible for your activity during this downtime.
For extroverts and those driven by sales and interactivity this may be a very difficult time especially if you emotionally attach yourself to sales/money.
AN EXTROVERT STRATEGY: Use the holiday time to emotionally connect with would be and current clients.
Use this time to get to know your database a bit. Ask important questions...
How did you do this year?
What kind of opportunities are you looking for in the new year, 2010?
What kind of skill sets do you have that I don't know about?
What kind of opportunity can I be on the look out for you in 2010?
Is there a proposal that I can prepare for you for the top of the year that can help you hit your goals?
You can do this as a series of phone calls and/or emails preferably using a jugglemail.
Using a jugglemail strategy: Create a well written email and track that email using the "Hot Prospects" Generator. Then pick up the phone and connect with the Hot Prospects and the Read email recipients.
AN INTROVERT STRATEGY: Be meticulous about finishing up projects.

During this dead-time there are most likely some great talented people sitting idle right now for you to hire or ask for help to get some of the long-overdue projects completed.
We are currently organizing our end of the year strategies based on these principles.
We have a pile of content that has not been a priority but all extremely viable from conventions and events. We just shot 2 days of GREEEN SCREEN for ourselves and our clients that we have started post production on. While these may be completed during the end of the year we are really setting the table for the beginning of the year.
That being said please watch the blog as we build some great content over the next 6 weeks. If you want our assistance in creating some new media. email marketing, STUFF before the end of the year just contact us.
We will continue to update the blog with end of the year STRATEGIES....
Here are Ten Twitter Tips, social media and it's best and worst. Hopefully this will inspire a few ideas on how to build and monetize your database using twitter. This post will be discussed on the David Kamatoy Radio Show.
Ten Twitter Tips, Successful and Unsuccessful
Examples with David Kamatoy and Morgan Westerman. Morgan Westerman
created one of the most successful viral videos of the internet and has
recently focused his energy on social media. In just a few short months
he has gathered about 25,000 followers on twitter. He is currently
working with entrepreneurs on best practices in sales conversion. He
can be followed @morganwesterman.
They rewarded dell followers by promoting refurbished gear specifically and have noted sales to prove it.
THE LESSON: They created a specific type of reward and message that was different from their other marketing. In tandem with the reality that most twitter followers will be a bit tech savvy purchasing online this was a good match.
The result would have been different if they didn't do the discounted and refurbished sales.
2. Steve Agee, The Sarah Silverman Project: Steve Agee comedian started off his twitter following by pulling off a stunt on Ustream.tv about reading all first 5,000 names live on air when he hit 5,000. He is currently at 863,420.
Really good example of someone in the public spotlight using that publicity to gather a following in a new genre. Dane Cook did it on myspace and now Steve Agee is doing it on twitter.
ENTERTAINER TIP: Remember that when your on a hit show or in the limelight. Use it to build your database. Anyone in this side of the business knows that you never know when your going to get your show canceled. In radio they often sell the station out from under you with very little rumbling. If they told you the advertisers would go away.
OWN YOUR OWN DATABASE AND GET THEM TO AM EMAIL LIST
4. Straight to Sales: Straight to SPAM! http://twitter.com/Wealth_Formula No Humanity This is perfect example of what does not work and will most likely be deleted as spam. Straight to a landing page with only one message. REALLY!!!
5. Good Porn Bad Porn: http://twitter.com/A_Dempsey While this may go straight to a porn link the good thing is the quotes and a varying message. Sneaky Porn Spam generally bad.
The Lessons: 1. Use a landing page as seen below. 2. Quotes can be quite useful if used correctly. Choosing quotes that are related to your subject matter and then either blogging about them or just reference them back to you is a good idea in creating an ideal emotion. 3. It's public people remember that journalists are now quoting "tweets".
THREE TWITTER TIPS
7. Customize your twitter page. I use Google's picassa to create a collage using pictures and logos. You have to play with the output settings to get it right but it's a great free application.
If you truly want to convert to sales or interactivity then you have to earn the respect of your followers through credibility. Therefore push content...
Blog postings- Like this one.
Press Releases-
Email Marketing: Jugglemail emails create unique URL's that can be easily posted onto twitter. We do it all the time with our press release emails.
Videos
Facebook
Other peoples content: rt someone elses tweet usually garners attention and is often reciprocated.
10. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery: Pay attention to who you and others pay attention to and then customize that style to your own.
BONUS Final Advice: Remember that ultimately you don't own your twitter, facebook or myspace profiles. They can be deleted at anytime for complaints, overuse, spam. To top it all off the parameters are constantly changing.
TIP: Covert to a real email and contact information as quickly as possible for real contacts.
We do this using the auto responders on our jugglemail system or just dropping them into the system upon approval.

Whether your an President Obama supporter or not. I think one thing was proved in the last election that your voice needs to be heard. In the last administration I admit feeling as though it was out of control and my opinion really did not count as much as it does during this administration.
There are several things wrong with our system that came to head in this recession and this is going to very difficult to fix. There needs to be a mentality shift to forgiving, moving on and getting to work. Regarding Entrepreneurship...
In this recession we will see a redistribution of market share. We have developed this mentality in America to be #1. The problem is that it costs a TON OF MONEY to stay #1. We are seeing the fallout of this behavior right now.
I think that as entrepreneurs we have to share the marketplace and that business is not just built on product but relationship and preference as well.
Think about the last time you went to "McDonald's" or "Jack in The Box." I suddenly realized I was paying 8.00 for a meal? When I go to "In and Out" or "Chick Fillet" I am spending 1-2 dollars less. What am I paying for oh yeah, "The advertising."
I would rather have a business with 5,000 customers that general love me and I am contributing back, making a profit, creating wealth and good will. Rather than having 15,000 customers where customer service sucks, I have to charge more because of the advertising, liability, etc. That's just me though. The other point is that In and Out may not exist without McDonald's because they created the category.
"Lessons from a Juggler" Tip: Take a look at the category of business that your in. Look for the redistribution of market share and then figure out how to stand out above the rest and/or build relationships with your customers and clients through good will and referrals.
Use loyalty tools like email newsletters(jugglemail.com) social media, content, gifts, events, etc.)
If we want this economy to recover. Your job as an entrepreneur and business owner is to "CREATE JOBS" or "CREATE INCOME" for your vendors by highly servicing a part of your market share.

"Social Media" is the buzz right now. The reality is that you need to go where your customers and clients are. So if they are on twitter, myspace, facebook, email you should be there and if you are there before anyone else the better.
However "Social Media" is really it's own form of PR and PR builds a brand not advertising. Advertising and marketing are based on ROI. So when I spend a dollar I know that I'll get 2 or 3 back. So once you get to that decision, once you test something that works then it just makes financial sense.
PR via the web, email, blogging and social media act as a long term investment that can make your advertising and marketing more effective or replace it all together.
It also comes down to budget. Realistically if you want make 10,000 a month in income then you have to plan on spending a certain amount of time and energy getting that income. At a 3:1 ROI you would be looking to spend about 3333.33 dollars. This probably looks a lot like your 1-2 person entrepreneurial adventure.
The reason I bring this up is that I am getting a lot of interest in, "Social Media" interest but I think the reason "Social Media" is effective that it is part of a total integrated campaign.

Derek Gehl of Entrepreneur.com said regarding email
'When you stay in touch with your regular customers and subscribers and
send them valuable information, they'll view you as a credible
resource, an expert in your field, and most important, someone who's
watching out for their best interests,'
More reinforcement for the reason to embrace email marketing and social media in a balanced way. I constantly bump into people that are on my email list and they often comment on the TIPS email that we send out as being inspiring and fun.

Datran Media found that over 80 per cent of businesses are set to use
targeted email to reach consumers over the next 12 months.
"A few times per week is fine but when I see an email everyday it really makes me want to unsubscribe."
-Brick Marketing's Nick Stamoulis
So this article reinforces something that we are working with our jugglemail customers and community
with. To find the balance to between content and sales. This is the message that we have learned and will constantly try to reinforce with our clients.
Step Number 1: Recognize that sending a sales email everyday is a bad idea.
Step Number 2: What sort of information via email would be helpful, entertaining or informative. Tips, Best practices article, Case Study. This content in addition to sales material will most likely endear you to your audience.
I also think the thing to recognize is that you will lose people, they will unsubscribe. So just accept that you can't make everyone happy. If you do however get an inordinate amount of deletes or angry emails then yeah your really doing something wrong lol.
Learn to balance your message from personal, proffesional, casual, content, tips and of course SALES.

San Diego,CA- We are watching as our yellow pages and newspaper shrink in size. We are watching as friends with longstanding jobs in Radio and TV being let go on a regional level. What this means to anyone trying to build a business whether it be entrepreneurship or entertainment is simply it's time to build your own database or fan base.
Whether your spending money on traditional advertising or social media part of the goal is to collect a database.
The reality is that we already do. Every card, every email, every new friend on facebook, myspace or twitter is part of the database. While yes it would be better if they were direct contacts like an email list in jugglemail ( wink wink) even the extremes of the database world are part of your database.
When I did radio regionally the station told us that we were reaching anywhere from 5,000-10,000 people passively. Well lets be serious I didn't judge the people listening to the show I just tried to project an entertaining and informative show to gather a following, reinforcing a brand, and looking for sales.
Any one of the people on your twitter list is like someone catching your show on TV.
The larger the database the more likely your going to get a few leads. It's that simple.
WHAT DO I DO WITH THE DATABASE ONCE I HAVE ONE?
Here is the largest challenge for all of us. If you come from the traditional sales or advertising world, or your someone who is a non-inferential direct communicator. All you want to do is sell. You don't care anything about the person except that they have the capacity to buy from you. WRONG ATTITUDE.
If you've been in business for any length of time you know that people do business with people, relationships are important and a lot of reoccurring revenue comes from exsisting clients. How does that apply to email marketing and social media?
Sell Sell Sell is Annoying Annoying Annoying
You need to be able to not only sell to your clients but also educate, inform, inspire and create a virtual community around your internet marketing presence. Balanced with the fearlessness of asking for business and referrals.
Use email marketing and social media to vary the message.
Content
Content
Relationship
Sales
Gratitude
If I got an email from a company like mine what kind of content goes around my expertise or service that would endear me to my database, my fan base.
I asked myself this same question as I looked at this very blog today and realized that I need to write more informative and inspiring posts. The blog, radio show, juggling and video give me credibility. What I need to do is balance my message with the stuff Ive been doing for years as someone in person that always has an interesting inspiring and motivating conversation with people, artists, and entrepreneurs.
It's easy when your in front of the microphone or in front of a crowd of people. But to find that same level of inspiration at the keyboard is different. I know we are starting to head down the right path again this week as I sent out the email. Some of the copy which is below co-written by myself and Kevin Six was given several compliments.
We have discovered a core strategy and message..
1.Creating, growing and maintaining your database should be at the core of every conversation.
2. Learning how to entertain, inspire, educate, endear and sell to the database is your life's work.
We will continue to reinforce this message of course.
2. Contact us if you need more advanced help with a general strategy for marketing and media.
3. Comment on this post....

We are once again focusing on content for our friends, clients and associates. When people first find me through the internet, through the business community or weirder yet while juggling. It's hard to get a grasp of what we do and really what content we can provide across the board towards.
Entertainment, Entrepreneurship and E-Marketing.
We know we hit the nail on the head when we can address a common theme that all these people can grasp and get a hold of this first email of 2009 really hits the nail on the head. These themes will be expressed throughout our work and we hope that this really rings true with you. If it does then we want your support and input.
We are on the path to building our own database just like you should be to build yours...

Tip 1. Old Media Bad
You are witnessing the death
of traditional media as we know it. We are witnessing readership
declining, radio talent fired and TV advertising going soft. The music
industry is moving online and some artists are even giving music away.
What this really means is this:
2. You Are Better Than Any Media (Old or New)
You must be responsible for creating your own database. Mining your own piece of the virtual landscape known as the Social Web.
IF YOU ARE NOT BUILDING A DATABASE YOUR COMPETITION IS.
3. We can Help
Jugglemail and Kamatoy Media Group want to help you entertain, educate,
and inform your database. Sign up for a Jugglemail account and start a

Gwyneth Paltrow has launched Goop.com website. I don't know if you can really appreciate the brilliance of this website. First of all it's Paltrow her unique personality has always shined through her work as an actor and now she is launching this combo blog, email newsletter, etc.
Basically the concept is simple. It's a site that shares her thoughts and ideas just as a blog would but it's unique in it's form in that it immediatly identifies itself as a newsletter and hides the content further into the site. BRILLIANT!
This is using Star Power to collect a database in one of the most elegant ways I have ever seen.
Congratulations Gwyenth Paltrow! I look forward to getting to know more about you and your thoughts.
As we witness the end of traditional media as we know it, entrepreneurs and entertainers alike are stuck with a challenge because its not enough to rely on traditional advertising because it's going soft. Our job now whether we are an exsisting star like Paltrow or a up and coming blog like GeekRoundtable.com or DerekStrohBlog.com or even a successful website to
