San Diego, CA- Greg Campbell is playing and singing at Upstart Crow. An acoustic guitar eclectic driven set of standards and covers.
Greg and I spent several years together working at Lambs Players Theatre where he was the lead sound engineer responsible for making the band and several of us sound good.
Its great to see him in another element.. You can see him occasionaly here at Upstart Crow a book store and coffee shop iin Seaport Village.
I was competing a show when I realized that Greg and Susan Campbell were standing there. He told me he was playing here so I decided to hang out for a while.
There is rumor some actual recordings coming soon. Well keep you updated.

For those of you who don't know video games are the largest money maker in the entertainment industry. Therefore it makes sense that the falling confused music industry would latch onto the rising star of the VIDEO GAME world.
I wonder if this means that the music from the video games will not be used. In addition will it make a difference to the video game companies use Interscope material in their video games Let's face it that is the DEAL.

Congratulations to Courtney Holt on moving to Myspace. Myspace is looking to increase both the stickiness of the site as well as revenue with this deal to increase commercial content.
I am interested in seeing what Myspace will do to integrate the bridge between the independent music that is prevalent on Myspace with the more commercially viable artists.
I want to do more research but it would be interesting if they move towards a Amazon type "Customers who bought this bought that" deal or if they work on Pandora type interface that links like-minded music.
We shall see. Love your comments. At some point we'll see if we can chat with the great Courtney Holt....

San Diego,CA- We recently interview the founder of Pandora about this very subject. While your patiently awaiting the podcast here is a quick article that covers the topic. I believe that it is important to the future of the music industry that we collectively save a company like Pandora.
It's content suports the artists and the listeners in a way that traditional venues do not. We actually get fed content to our liking not just what's on the billboard charts.
The founders of www.UkuleleUnderground.com with Aldreine Guerrero are
in town teaching a beginning and advanced workshop on the Ukulele. In
addition they will be performing at Mo's Island Grinds today July
22,2008 at 6:30p.m..
I wasn't sure which class to take so I ended up in the beginning class
which was a bit more rudimentary than anticipated but still well worth
it. I stayed for the advance workshop which covered some strum patterns
as well as some improvisation. This was more to my liking and skill
set.
The two workshops were followed by a short set of Ryan on Guitar and
Aldriene on the Uke. The crowd was uber impressed, Aldriene's technique
is the real deal and has to make a decision if he really wants to
pursue a more serious recording career. I hope he does, although we
have Jake Shimbabukaro it would be great to have a few more
contemporary Uke projects. (I'll work on it but it's still not my
primary instrument....lol)
After decades of playing piano and directing musicians in various
capacities it has been interesting actually picking up another
instrument for once
It's been almost 30 days since Steven Sloan gave me a
Ukulele on my birthday. It was the week that we were in sessions for
the Derek Stroh Project which is heavily guitar driven so I guess I got
the bug. My intention behind the Ukulele was a bit comedic to be
honest, then I started looking into the new wave of Ukulele seemingly
inspired by Jake Shimabukuro and found Ukulele Underground. Aldreine
has videos covering how to play more contemporary pieces as well as
more aggressive strumming and pick styles.
Ukulele Underground is a great example of a blog, video podcasting model. so check it out just for that....
Sounds like a New Drink.... Tonight on the Show we had two musical artists that are on their way up the ladder of sucess. Two people that have done and are doing the work. Check out their websites and let us know what you think...
