In the Las Vegas production of “Jersey Boys,” verbiage was
appropriately changed from “So the next time you’re in Vegas…” to “So
while you’re in Vegas…”
Similarly, on September 12, 2009 - now officially known as “Christian Hoff Day” in sunny San Diego, California (yes, that Christian Hoff
- who knew?) - the home-grown Tony-award winning actor/singer/dancer
changed the last line of the Drifters’ (and George Benson) classic On
Broadway from “and I won’t quit ’til I’m a star…” to “and I didn’t
quit; now I’m a star…on Broadway.”
Here are Ten Twitter Tips, social media and it's best and worst. Hopefully this will inspire a few ideas on how to build and monetize your database using twitter. This post will be discussed on the David Kamatoy Radio Show.
Ten Twitter Tips, Successful and Unsuccessful
Examples with David Kamatoy and Morgan Westerman. Morgan Westerman
created one of the most successful viral videos of the internet and has
recently focused his energy on social media. In just a few short months
he has gathered about 25,000 followers on twitter. He is currently
working with entrepreneurs on best practices in sales conversion. He
can be followed @morganwesterman.
They rewarded dell followers by promoting refurbished gear specifically and have noted sales to prove it.
THE LESSON: They created a specific type of reward and message that was different from their other marketing. In tandem with the reality that most twitter followers will be a bit tech savvy purchasing online this was a good match.
The result would have been different if they didn't do the discounted and refurbished sales.
2. Steve Agee, The Sarah Silverman Project: Steve Agee comedian started off his twitter following by pulling off a stunt on Ustream.tv about reading all first 5,000 names live on air when he hit 5,000. He is currently at 863,420.
Really good example of someone in the public spotlight using that publicity to gather a following in a new genre. Dane Cook did it on myspace and now Steve Agee is doing it on twitter.
ENTERTAINER TIP: Remember that when your on a hit show or in the limelight. Use it to build your database. Anyone in this side of the business knows that you never know when your going to get your show canceled. In radio they often sell the station out from under you with very little rumbling. If they told you the advertisers would go away.
OWN YOUR OWN DATABASE AND GET THEM TO AM EMAIL LIST
4. Straight to Sales: Straight to SPAM! http://twitter.com/Wealth_Formula No Humanity This is perfect example of what does not work and will most likely be deleted as spam. Straight to a landing page with only one message. REALLY!!!
5. Good Porn Bad Porn: http://twitter.com/A_Dempsey While this may go straight to a porn link the good thing is the quotes and a varying message. Sneaky Porn Spam generally bad.
The Lessons: 1. Use a landing page as seen below. 2. Quotes can be quite useful if used correctly. Choosing quotes that are related to your subject matter and then either blogging about them or just reference them back to you is a good idea in creating an ideal emotion. 3. It's public people remember that journalists are now quoting "tweets".
THREE TWITTER TIPS
7. Customize your twitter page. I use Google's picassa to create a collage using pictures and logos. You have to play with the output settings to get it right but it's a great free application.
If you truly want to convert to sales or interactivity then you have to earn the respect of your followers through credibility. Therefore push content...
Blog postings- Like this one.
Press Releases-
Email Marketing: Jugglemail emails create unique URL's that can be easily posted onto twitter. We do it all the time with our press release emails.
Videos
Facebook
Other peoples content: rt someone elses tweet usually garners attention and is often reciprocated.
10. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery: Pay attention to who you and others pay attention to and then customize that style to your own.
BONUS Final Advice: Remember that ultimately you don't own your twitter, facebook or myspace profiles. They can be deleted at anytime for complaints, overuse, spam. To top it all off the parameters are constantly changing.
TIP: Covert to a real email and contact information as quickly as possible for real contacts.
We do this using the auto responders on our jugglemail system or just dropping them into the system upon approval.

Las Vegas, NV You get a true scope of what it takes to get a product to market when you walk into a trade show like this and you see established companies and products. Entrepreneurs from all over the world with some really fantastic products.
We'll be covering as much as we can while centering around the story of Chris Eader and the No More Geysers team. Steve Kovach and Scott Armstrong were the driving force behind taking a chance at the National Hardware Show.
While yes this is the place to be the actual scope of this show is HUGE. Imagine booths for every category of anything on the shelves of Home Depot and Lowes then multpliy that by 10.
I love all these new terms it's basically "video". The format has changed, the production values are their own but essentially it's video. If I shot this on a $100 camera or a $10,000 camera the content will basically be the same.
That being said...
The first day of the National Hardware Show were just getting out footing. The booth has been set up. I'm about to post some media. But really the bulk of the editing will happen in the evening.
I'll post a few things and then back to media land....
This week the blog will typed live from Las Vegas, NV where I will be covering the National Hardware Show. Our good friend Chris Eader will be there with his sales team to push the No More Geysers riser further into the marketplace. In addition I will be covering a few random travel experiences on TheAirGorillaBlog.com. We booked the hotel on AirGorilla and got a sweet deal.
This week were going to blog heavily and switch into different modalities as well. Twitter, Blogging, VideoBlogging and Podcasting. Were going to try to go to the web as quickly as we can this week. The goal is to use this to get into the swing of massive social media.
We will be covering
New Products at the show
The "No More Geysers Story"
The use of social media at trade shows.
Email Marketing
The actual media presence here at the trade show
Main Stream or Alternative?
Entrepreneurs
Travel Whacky Experiences..(We are in Vegas)
And so much more.
Thanks for reading, watching and twittering. Please re-post, comment and have fun enjoying our long days doing the Entrepreneurial thing Vegas this week.
Denver,Co- On my recent trip to Denver, CO I lost my precious notebook. While I still away. it's return I got this new notebook at a huge Barnes and Noble.
This quote...
I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand. - Confucius
was exactly what I was looking for in reference to "Social Media Marketing" as it pertains to blogs, twitter, Myspace, Facebook, etc.
We hold this conference call for my associates regarding, "Social Media" and it was amazing to me how much I have learned but at the same time how difficult it is to explain how to do the things we are doing.
In fact this style of communication is really still coming into it's own. We are all still trying to figure it out but every once in a while you get a glimmer of hope...
Calls for gigs because of all the updates your doing. You are creating a Top of Mind Awareness.
Tip: Stop trying to intellectualize or justify the need to be on social media. Just jump into it. Learn by doing. Read blogs like this one, get a coach, follow the work of someone already successful online.
The greatest thing that you can do for yourself is just dedicate an hour or two a day to learning Social Media, email marketing and communicating. Learn what works and what does not work by doing.
I hear and I forget.
We started the conference call with just a phone conference call. While we got some interest we still had people not doing anything out of frustration and not-understanding.
I see and I remember.
We then dropped the calls and our last two pitch sessions on DimDIm.com and Gotomeeting.com. The participants actually got to "see" what we were doing and that helped immensely.
I do and I understand.
Finally a few of the participants on the call really got into it. Writing consistently, promoting onStumbleupon, twittering. In doing we saw new blogs and post get views upwards of 500+ on a brand new blog.
We would like to have some of our blogs hit 1,000+ views a day and we know how to get there to do it.
Conversion
Our next goal in tandem with increased traffic is to show financial results in the way of "conversion." We have had some success with this but not at the scale we would like.
I intend to keep you informed of the progress. It is absolutely working and invite any readers to share their experience and wisdom in these matters.
GOOD HUNTING...
David

I was recently waxing on the reality of getting a netbook versus a cell phone and BAM. AT&T decides to go in this direction. I think this is a great idea and could easily lead it's way into a full blown $500-$750 laptop that is also connected to a wireless plan.
A few years ago it was stated that computer culture used to be more about accessories, printers and software. Now it's about the computer as a peripheral to the web.
I slowly have made this transition as well. As jugglemail.com is a web app it's important that I have access 24/7. I open the following web apps so I can work virtually.
Gmail
Yahoo
Typepad
jugglemail
twitter
splitweet
twitter
twitdeck
skype
myspace (Not as often because it still slows my system down.)
facebook
linked (Working on getting more involved here.)
With the edition of google docs I can do a lot of rough drafting and basic spreasheet work there as well.
There is a work mode that I can go into now that is essentially virtual and all online.
Congratulations to AT&T for making a strong tactical move that is forward thinking.
"Social Media" is the buzz right now. The reality is that you need to go where your customers and clients are. So if they are on twitter, myspace, facebook, email you should be there and if you are there before anyone else the better.
However "Social Media" is really it's own form of PR and PR builds a brand not advertising. Advertising and marketing are based on ROI. So when I spend a dollar I know that I'll get 2 or 3 back. So once you get to that decision, once you test something that works then it just makes financial sense.
PR via the web, email, blogging and social media act as a long term investment that can make your advertising and marketing more effective or replace it all together.
It also comes down to budget. Realistically if you want make 10,000 a month in income then you have to plan on spending a certain amount of time and energy getting that income. At a 3:1 ROI you would be looking to spend about 3333.33 dollars. This probably looks a lot like your 1-2 person entrepreneurial adventure.
The reason I bring this up is that I am getting a lot of interest in, "Social Media" interest but I think the reason "Social Media" is effective that it is part of a total integrated campaign.

Feedburner, an application that allows you to promote blogs was bought by Google a while ago. I was a fan of feedburner before and really not surprised that they bought the company. What I am remiss about is that they have decided to lose the brand of feedburner and allow the feeds to be absorbed by Google. So right now all our feeds are being moved over to google accounts while I wait to get some more work done.
I know that this is a better move for Google simply because it will allow them to service more people with the feeds and since as a blogger we love google because they search us. I still will miss the feedburner independant brand as the semi-secret tool of bloggers everywhere.
The Feedburner brand lives but as a subdomain of Google.
San Diego,CA- Ned Cato Jr.'s GeekRoundTable.com has just hit 5,000 page views. We were on our invitation only social media conference call when Ned quietly celebrated his sites 5,000 page view. We have been working closely with Ned . on the development of the blog. We believed that the project has huge promise as the subject matter POP CULTURE AND GEEK STUFF has a huge footprint.
Blogging about comic books, pop culture, movies based on graphic novels, anime, etc.a great source and community to build from.
While the show was being created and podcasted the bloggin was minimal. Ned decided to blog during the Holidays while most of us were on break and as predicted it was a good time to hammer away.
Basically Ned started writing everyday.
Posting about other news items and blogs.
We added a simple banner and make a few simple layout changes as well.
He wrote about and connected with a TopCow comics executive who also blogs.
Add it all up and essentially Ned started noticing that on certain keyword searches he was showing up number 1 in google.
SHOWING UP ON THE FIRST PAGE IN GOOGLE ON ANY KEYWORD SEARCH IS A SIGN THAT YOU ARE DOING SOMETHING RIGHT!
Our blogging techniques are now reproducing the results of this blog as it pertains to search engine optimization. Stay tuned as we are going to get smart and aggressive resulting in increased traffic, subscribers and database.
